AKRC Opening Notice

To all member communities and membership, this is to inform everyone that AKRC will be opening within the next couple of weeks, our targeted date is November 1, 2021. Hopefully, there are no COVID outbreaks that will deter.

At our staff meeting of October 12, 2021, there are plans for staff to go into the office to set up, deliver any supplies allotted to the communities. This is to declutter and ensure the office is according to Ontario Health and Safety Standards for staff and visitors to be back in the main office.

Our staff have been going into the office as required and have been abiding by the COVID protocols set by the communities and Ontario. We will be open to the public by appointment only.

I am also bringing to your attention the phone lines that have not been working and have since been resolved as of the end of September. Our fax machine still needs to be addressed. Any correspondence to our staff can be sent to the email addresses provided on our websites under the AKRC website and FACEBOOK page.

The Technical services unit at the Northern Sub Office in Wauzhushk Onigum also continues to open when staff need to be in there as required. The staff also includes the HUB unit that also take turns and share 3 offices.  We have four staff members working from the NSO and we are in the process of recruiting one more.

The main office located in Animakee Wa Zhing #37 will also have staff rotate and share office space until management find alternative ways to house all staff of AKRC. AKRC currently has 10 offices and a boardroom.  We now have 16 staff that will work out of the office; and we really need the space. AKRC is in the process of recruiting three more staff members, as a result some staff will continue to work remotely.
