Vanessa Powassin, Economic Development Worker

Boozhoo,

My name is Vanessa Powassin and with this letter of introduction, I want to express how excited I am to be working for Anishinaabeg of Kabap1kotawangag Resorce Council (AKRC) as their Economic Development Worker. I am excited to start building relationships with the First Nation Economic Development Workers and all staff. Let’s see what we can accomplish working together to move our Nations forward.

A little about myself, I am from one the affiliated communities that AKRC works for, which is Windigo Island. This is one of two communities that make Animakee Wa Zhing #37. I was employed with many roles in my community majority of my time was economic devlepoment, which brought me to AKRC. I found this as an opportunity to work with not just one First Nation but with 5 other First Nations. I am married for over 17 years and mother to 4 children. My life revolves around my family and community. I get involved and volunteer in any opportunity that is available in my area. Even helping organize our community fishing derby since 2008.

I look forward to getting to know everyone and learning more about the communities. If you have any questions or ideas, I look forward to hearing from you and please don’t hesitate to contact me.
