Ojibways of Onigaming

Formally known as Sabaskong First Nation, the Ojibways of Onigaming is located on Highway #71, north of Nestor Falls and three quarters of an hour from the offices of AKRC. Community facilities include a health clinic, a council operated school with both elementary and secondary grades, a childcare centre, a traditional roundhouse, and an administration building.

Wauzhusk Onigum

Formerly known as Rat Portage First Nation, Wauzhusk Onigum First Nation is located 5 kilometres south of the city of Kenora and is 100 kilometres from the offices of AKRC. Community facilities include a health clinic, a childcare centre, a learning centre, a traditional roundhouse, and an administration building.

Big Grassy River

Located on Highway #621 south of the town of Morson, the Big Grass River First Nation is 280 kms or 1.75 hours drive from the AKRC offices. Community facilities area health clinic, a council operated school, a recovery home, a recreation hall, and an administration building.

Northwest Angle #33

The Northwest Angle #33 First Nation is represented as one First Nation, however the First Nation is geographically separated, with two communities located at opposite ends of Lake of the Woods.

Northwest Angle #33/Angle Inlet is accessible only by water or air. It is located on the west side of Lake of the Woods, approximately 250 kilometres or 2.75 hours drive from AKRC. Community facililities at Angle Inlet include a health clinic, a community hall, and an administration building. Health Canada’s First Nation and Inuit Health Branch as WNHAC make periodic nursing visits.

Northwest Angle #33/Dog Paw Lake is located off Highway #71 on the east side of Lake of the Woods, 25 kilometres or 10 minutes from the AKRC offices. Community facilities include a recreation hall.

Animakee Wa Zhing 37

Animakee Wa Zhing 37 #37/Windigo Island is accessible only by air or water. It is located approximately 250 kilometeres from AKRC offices. Community facilities include a council operated school, and an administration building.

Animakee Wa Zhing 37 #37/Regina Bay is located off Highway #71 on the east side of Lake of the Woods about 25 kilometres or 10 minutes from AKRC offices. Community facilities include a health clinic, a recreation hall, and an administration building.
